Two Google Play Store updates have been rolled out on Thursday, November 2. The latest build can now be downloaded alongside all of its essential security patches.
Google Play Store 8.4.18 has just been released by Google over the air. This comes in stages so some users may not receive the update as prompt as the others. The good news is, IBTimes Singapore was able to secure a copy of the newest update.

Apart from all the security fixes, the update also comes with minor tweaks in the user interface of the app. While there are no major features arriving, security updates are very important, especially that there has been a string of cyber attacks recently.
In the first two days of November alone, two updates have already been rolled out and more are expected in the following weeks. In October, Google released a total of seven updates for the Play Store.

In related news, Google has reportedly taken down two malicious apps from the Play Store. According to cybersecurity firm ESET, the apps appear to be the official app of popular cryptocurrency exchange app Poloniex at first glance.
Apparently, these apps in question are meant to snoop around sensitive credentials of those in the cryptocurrency trade and use stolen data to steal funds. The logo of Poloniex was even used by the owners of the bogus apps.
One app was identified as Poloniex Exchange with 500 downloads and the other was just named Poloniex with more than 5,000 downloads.
