Korean boy band GOT7 topped iTunes album charts in 17 countries with their new album "7 for 7." The idol group released their seventh mini-album on October 10, that contains seven songs including "You Are."
Upon its release, it climbed to No. 1 on iTunes, including in Brazil, Finland, Hong Kong, Mexico, Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.
GOT7 member JB said in a way, the album was influenced by JJ Project, a subunit composed of Jinyoung and him.
"It's true that the sonic path of '7 for 7' was somewhat influenced by that of JJ Project. But we also agreed the fresh and uplifting image fits us well, even better than our previous dark and aggressive image," he said.
He added, "All of us agreed that it was time for us to get serious and start talking about our own stories and concerns in life." GOT7 said they felt more complete when they released the album.
"When there were only two of us, we were more calm and quiet. Jinyoung and I have spent almost five years together in our careers, and we didn't have much to talk about. But we became more cheerful and talkative as a whole group," said JB.
Jackson also took the opportunity to disprove rumors that he is leaving GOT7 to launch a solo career. "There are people who like me and dislike me. But I decided to prove that I will always belong to GOT7 in action, not in words," he said. JB took part in writing the lead single "You Are," which topped three Korean music charts.
"I was proud. It felt like I was dreaming. It felt different. I didn't want to feel burdened, but when I heard my song would be the title track, I paid a lot of attention to it," he said. "I made a lot of effort to write it in a refreshing and cool way. Personally, I like the sexy, strong image, but the image I have about GOT7 is refreshing, cool, and bright."
He said he wrote just "to make a good song."
"It was the song I had the least expectations for, so I'm really happy it became the title track. I wanted to express my gratitude. I created a melody line that could make you think of all of us brightly laughing and dancing under the vast sky," JB said.
