One finale episode and one special episode remains before JTBC's highly successful reality-variety show 'Hyori's Homestay' ends. A renewal for a second season isn't in the cards yet and there is a serious reason why. There are security concerns for Lee Hyori and her family.
As noted by website Soompi, the producing director of 'Hyori's Homestay' has said, "There's only one thing I'm concerned about. It worries me that uninvited guests are showing up to Lee Hyori and Lee Sang Soon's home. It must be extremely burdensome to film at their own house, and yet, it would be meaningless to film somewhere else."

This is indeed a serious cause for concern as the safety and security of the couple and their pets are more important than filming a reality show on the singer's property. In any case, the first season is ending soon and the Lee Hyori and her husband need a relaxing break; away from the glare of showbiz. The PD has said that they would take some time to consider all the variables and then decide whether to renew the show for a second season. It is out of the question now.
In related news, Soompi also notes how Hyori and her husband were missing IU after she left to attend her younger brother's graduation ceremony in the United States. The couple, especially Lee Hyori, had become very close to IU. Hyori and IU had become like sisters to each other after having spent a significant time at their Jeju Island home.
While taking a break in the show, Lee Hyori told her husband Lee Sang-soon, "Ji Eun [IU's real name] texted me saying she arrived safely [in the U.S.]." To this Lee Sang-soon said, "I texted her [a photo of] the morning landscape." Lee Hyori also expressed her wish that when IU comes back, they should all eat seafood dumplings.
IU herself was missing them too, despite attending her brother's graduation ceremony in the United States. She said, "The sky is blue here, but it isn't as pretty as the sky in Jeju. I wonder what Lee Hyori and Lee Sang Soon are doing." While taking a flight back to Seoul, she dreamily added, "I thought of Jeju. It came up in my dream. New guests must've arrived. I wonder what they're like. I will land quickly in Seoul and contact Lee Hyori and Lee Sang Soon."
IU had become intimately involved with Lee Hyori's family, including their many pets. She had taken part in cleaning, cooking, going shopping and eve attempting Yoga together. Lee Hyori had shared a lot of her personal stories with IU and offered her words of wisdom. She recently became quite emotional about IU and thanked her for entering her life and asked IU to bring her future boyfriend to Jeju Island.
As IU returned to Lee Hyori's home, they greeted each other with a lot of warmth and affection. However, what was surprising is the gift she had brought for Lee Hyori; it was a lacy pink lingerie from US. Giving the gift to a curious Lee Hyori, IU said with a shy smile, "This [homestay/show] will be over soon so the two of you...," leaving the sentence incomplete.
The gift may have been a bit embarrassing for the couple but it also shows how close she had become with Lee Hyori. Her gift was perhaps a symbolic gesture, that she wished Lee Hyori and Lee Sang-soon would always remain together. Watch the clip below.
