The man who was arrested for carrying out a stabbing spree inside a primary school in Savu island in Indonesia was beaten to death by an angry mob on 13 December.

The 32-year-old culprit was arrested after he attacked a group of school children with a knife inside a school located in Indonesia's East Nusa Tenggara province. Seven children, between eight years to 11 years, were injured in the attack.

However, an angry mob attacked the accused inside his jail cell and killed him after severely torturing him.

Agence France-Presse reported that hundreds of locals rushed to the police station after the accused was brought there. Angry at the news of the attack they pushed their way past police and entered the cell and started beating the man. "The suspect was tortured by the mob and died," said local officer Silfeston, according to the news agency.

Local news channels also broadcast footages showing a huge number of men shouting and pushing past police to climb over the police station walls. An investigation into the mob killing and the motive behind the initial stabbing spree has been ordered by authorities.
