The iFile app is a great viewer of internal system files and directories for jailbroken devices. Luckily, other iOS users who have non-jailbroken devices can now sideload this app on their iOS 11.1.1 or iOS 11.1.2 iPhone or iPad devices without jailbreak needed.
A caveat though, iFile lacks root access on a device with stock iOS so there may be some system folders that are not accessible to you. If you really want it, you can install it using the Cydia Impactor tool or Xcode 7 or higher.
How to install iFile on iOS 11.1.1, iOS 11.1.2 without jailbreak
Below is a step-by-step guide on how to sideload iFile IPA file on iOS devices without jailbreak necessary:
Step 1: Get the iFile IPA file from here.
Step 2: Sideload the downloaded file onto your iOS device using either Xcode 7 or higher (for Mac only) or Cydia Impactor (for Mac and Windows). Proceed to Step 9 if you don't want to perform the process through Xcode.
Step 3: Download Xcode 9 here. You will be asked to log in so make sure you have your Apple ID and password with you.
Step 4: Download the Objective-C or Swift source code of the app that you want to sideload and then launch it.
Step 5: Connect your iOS device using a USB cable.
Step 6: In Xcode, click on the menu bar > Product > Destination. Choose the connected device.
Step 7: In Xcode, click on the project name on the left column and add a unique Bundle Identifier from the Identity header.
Step 8: If the "No matching provisioning profile found" message pops up, click on your name in the Team box and then click Fix Issue. Wait for Xcode to sideload iFile and run it once done.
Step 9: To use the Cydia Impactor tool, download first the preferred version here. Note that DEB files do not work with Cydia Impactor.
Step 10: Connect your iOS device to your Mac or PC using a USB cable. Make sure to have the latest iTunes version.
Step 11: Open the Cydia Impactor executable file.
Step 12: On the drop-down menu, select the connected device.
Step 13: Drag and drop the iFile IPA file onto the Cydia Impactor window. You will be asked to provide your Apple ID and password of an Apple Developer account. Note that free developer accounts will revoke app access within seven days which means you will have to uninstall and install it again. Paid developer accounts last for a year.
Step 14: When warning pops up, click OK. Wait for Cydia Impactor to sign and validate the IPA file.
Step 15: Once done, go to Settings > General > Profile & Device Management. Select the associated profile and then click Trust. Tap Trust again to confirm.
Enjoy the iFile app on your iOS 11.1 or iOS 11.2 devices now!
