Avid jailbreak fans of iOS are in for some exciting news as the prolific Italian hacker 'Luca Todesco aka @qwertyoruiop' has just announced the possibility of releasing an iOS 10.1.1 jailbreak soon. This comes as a big relief to all those jailbreakers who have held back the iOS 10.2 update, after Apple patched up several key exploits in the new firmware.
Meanwhile, Ian Beer from Google's Project Zero has filed a bug report detailing the kernel and root exploit for iOS 10.1.1, which could be the prerequisite for the development of a fully-functional iOS 10.1.1 jailbreak as suggested by Todesco.
This comes as a welcome change to the jailbreak community as Todesco had earlier denied any plans to release a public version of the jailbreak.
Todesco's recent work with the browser-based exploit or loader for Pangu 9.3.3 jailbreak has been a hallmark of success for clearing the biggest hurdles in the making of future jailbreak tools, as it eliminated the need for using a developer certificate for the loader app.
Prospective iOS 10 jailbreakers have been advised to downgrade iOS 10.2 to iOS 10.1.1, before Apple closes the signing window for the latter firmware.
As iOS 10.1.1 still seems to be jailbreakable with the existing exploits, it would be a wise move to hold back iOS 10.2 upgrade until further notice from the jailbreak developers and the veteran members of the jailbreak community.
Although Todesco has not guaranteed a public release of the iOS 10.1.1 jailbreak, he has offered to help in the development of the jailbreak which could eventually be released by popular, Chinese jailbreak-release groups like TaiG or Pangu.
