Overview

Kerala Blasters came up against Atletico de Kolkata in the title match of the inaugural edition of the Indian Super League in 2014 in Mumbai. After dominating the possession for most part of the match, the Men in Yellow were shattered after the Kolkata based-franchise struck an injury-time winner.

Come 2016, both the first year's standout performers are back in the final, this time in Kochi. Steve Coppell's side, at home, will be rallied by a sea of yellow, who have turned up in huge numbers for all their matches this season.

The home side has also repaid their faith by making the most of the favourable conditions, winning seven of their eight matches. However, their only loss in Kochi came against Atletico in their first home game.

Kerala have come back from behind in the ongoing season. After clinching only one point in their first three matches, the Balsters buckled up and finished second on the group table.

The arrival of CK Vineeth, who missed the first half of the season due to his commitments with Bengaluru FC, did boost the side and added firepower to the attack unit, which had the likes of Duckens Nazone, Rafique Mohammad and Kervens Belfort.

Cedric Hengbart and Aaron Hughes have been at their best at the back so far this season and they will play a key role against Kolkata's big names, which includes Ian Hume and Helder Postiga, who were rested during their semi-final second leg clash against Mumbai City FC.

The visitors though will miss Robert Lalthlamuana (suspension) and Juan Belencoso, who was sent off in Mumbai. Jose Molina and his men will be wary of the home support Kerala will have on Sunday but they have the firepower and flair in the front to test the hosts' backline. With quite a few fresh legs in the side, Kolkata will look to seal their second ISL title.
