Ever since the first episode of School 2017 was premiered, its lead man Kim Jung Hyun was compared with actor Kim Woo Bin, who played the lead role in School 2013. The irony is that both the actors played the role of a rebellious, arrogant teenagers.
In School 2017, Hung Hyun played the role of a reckless and rebellious high school student known as Hyun Tae Woon. After being kicked out of one in the U.S schools, he is transferred to a Korean school. He is to join gugudgan's Kim Sejeong as part of the drama's lead cast. It was the seventh installment of the School series, which was aired from 1999-2002 and then in 2012 and 2015. School 2017 edition showcased the realistic lifestyle of a bunch of school students, the hardships they face, and the raw emotions they feel.
In an interview with Star News, Jung Hyun revealed that he is honoured to be compared with Kim Woo Bin who also happens to be his favourite actor. He also added that he is grateful to fans for their warm reception despite the show scoring low ratings. The actor was praised for his acting abilities and the detailed portrayal of the character. He finally added that he would like to build his own image in the future.
Though the series disappointed fans with its low scorings, the drama was praised for its wonderful casting where the debutants performed their respective roles with utmost perfection.
