The latest version of the Kodi app for Android devices can now be downloaded. While the official Kodi website has not yet posted the update, users can get the Kodi 17.6 RC1 APK file at the end of this article.
This release comes after a similar update was rolled out on iOS devices late in October. Mac, Windows, Linux and Raspberry Pi users would have to wait for the download files to become available or until the Kodi team officially releases the update over the air.

The previous update, which is Krypton 17.5.1, was released on October 24. Two days after, Kodi 17.6 RC1 was made available for iPhone and iPad devices. It remains uncertain what Kodi 17.6 RC1 for Android took so long to be out.
On Kodi.tv, the latest version has not been listed yet which means the complete lowdown on tweaks and improvements remains a mystery. Even so, Android users can expect a bunch of security fixes and general performance improvements.
For Windows, Linux and Mac users, tune in to kodi.tv/download to check when the DEB file becomes available. At press time, any files are not yet available.
Meanwhile, there were speculations that Kodi 18 Leia might arrive after Krypton 17.5.1 but apparently, Kodi has pushed the first release candidate for Kodi 17.6. Kodi 18 Leia has been rumoured to surface a couple of weeks from now.
