South Korean shows and dramas have been loved and appreciated not only in the country but also abroad. In fact, the viewers are appreciating the fact that Korea is producing socially relevant dramas such as "Defendant," "Chief Kim" and "Rebel: Thief Who Stole The People."
According to the reports, culture critics stated that the Korean citizens watch the K-dramas to "find peace".
"The fact that we called in a historic figure and re-interpreted his life in this time means that the public could find a close link between then and now," a culture critic, Jung Duk Hyun said as per Korea Times.
The historical drama, "Rebel: Thief Who Stole The People" revolves around the life of Hong Gil Dong from the reign of King Yeonsangun.
While the legal thriller "Defendant" is about a former prosecutor who tried to solve a case where a wealthy individual is involved and suffers injustice. The character of Ji Sung finds himself in the prison and doesn't have a memory of what brought him there.
On the other hand, "Chief Kim" is a lighter drama as compared to "Defendant" and "Rebel: Thief Who Stole The People." It is a comedy series that portrays real-life situations within a company.
While stating about these dramas Kim Kyo Suk, a culture critic said that "timely dramas that are relevant to modern-day Korean society."
Jung Duk Hyun added: "All of us are living life as another rebel, a defendant or a manager."
K-dramas, "Defendant" and "Rebel: Thief Who Stole The People" airs every Monday and Tuesday at 10:00 p.m. on SBS and MBC, respectively.
And, the comedy series "Good Chief" broadcasts every Wednesday and Thursday on KBS2.
