Artificial intelligence is the way to go – that's one thing that the tech industry agrees with these days. The entire Silicon Valley is pouring in all its efforts and money to develop the better artificial intelligence system that its competitions. Be it kitchen appliances or luxury vehicles, artificial intelligence or AI is getting integrated into everything. Meanwhile, the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin has agreed to the same vision. Putin, while speaking at a meeting with students, said that whoever reaches a breakthrough in developing artificial intelligence will, indeed, dominate the world, reported AP.
"The one who becomes the leader in this sphere will be the ruler of the world," said Putin.
The Russian President also added that the development of AI creates "colossal opportunities and threats that are difficult to predict now."
He warned that "It would be strongly undesirable if someone wins a monopolist position" and also promised that Russia would be open to sharing its know-how in artificial intelligence with other nations.
The Russian leader also predicted that wars of the future will be fought by drones and not grenades or guns, and "when one party's drones are destroyed by drones of another, it will have no other choice but to surrender."
Vladimir Putin's comments come just weeks after the top tech leaders Tesla's Elon Musk and Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg had a public spat over the emergence of artificial Intelligence. While the speaking about Elon Musk's visions about AI development Zuckerberg said that those who push "doomsday scenarios" about the technology are being "irresponsible, Musk responded by saying that the father of Facebook has a "limited" understanding of the dangers of AI.
Along with Musk, other tech visionaries, like Microsoft's Bill Gates, have also expressed concerns regarding the AI technology earlier. Musk had said, "AI is a fundamental risk to the existence of human civilization."
