Fans of the two of the popular Korean dramas, Goblin and Legend of the Blue Sea are against each other over the shows ratings. According to the latest rating, it is revealed that Lee Min Ho's Legend of the Blue Sea defeated the Gong Yoo's Goblin which has been breaking the records since its premiere.
Both the dramas premiered towards the end of 2016, and received immense love from the viewers in Korea and from the international fans. But, both of them have been compared on several occasions because both of them started around the same time, have star studded cast and have similar themes of fantasy-romance. However, Legend of the Blue Sea airs on SBS and Goblin on tvN, that too on different days and different time slots.
According to Nielsen Korea, the viewership statistics is released for Goblin's episodes from the recent weekend. Reportedly, the episode of Goblin that aired on 13 January received 15.55 percent.
The Legend of the Blue Sea rating were also analysed by Nielsen Korea, earlier. The most recent episode of the SBS drama was on 12 January, Thursday and reportedly, it received 20.8 percent nationwide viewership ratings.
Moreover, it is also reported that mermaid love story is not only leading in terms of ratings but also in terms of brand reputation rankings.
It was difficult for the fans of Goblin to accept that it was behind the SBS fantasy drama, and took to social media to explain why it's baseless to compare the two.
Fans defended Goblin saying that it airs on tvN which is a cable TV where as Legend of the Blue Sea airs on free TV station, SBS.
Some fans even pointed out that usually cable TV dramas only receive two to four percent ratings. According to which, Goblin ratings are very impressive.
Furthermore, according to a Soompi report, Goblin's rating is equal to around 30 percent if it aired on a free channel.
