Sixth seed Lin Dan faces third seed Viktor Axelsen in the Men's singles quarter-final of 2017 All England Championships at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham on Friday.
The six-time champion began his campaign by making light work of Malaysia's Zulfadli Zulkiffli on Wednesday after which he ousted his compatriot Huang Yuxiang by winning the second-round tie in straight games. On the other hand, the Rio Olympic bronze medalist has been in fine form, decimating Anders Antonsen and Zhao Junpeng enroute to his last-eight match.
Axelsen has grown into one of the strongest forces in the Men's singles circuit and has looked impeccable after his bronze medal-winning performance at the Rio Games. Notably, he pipped Lin in the third-place match last year to bring glory to Denmark. The 23-year-old finished the year on a high as well winning his maiden Dubai World Superseries Final.
The world number four also has tasted quite a lot of success against the two-time Olympic champion as the former has won three of their last four meetings. While Axelsen will be hoping to put another one across Lin, the 33-year-old Chinese legend, who is eyeing his seventh title in Birmingham in what might be his last attempt, will want to set the records straight against the Dane.
