Reports of a Hollywood studio planning to make an unauthorised biopic on pop queen Madonna are doing rounds in the social media for quite some time. Now, it looks like the news has reached the pop star and she is absolutely not happy with it.
On her Instagram page, the Material Girl wrote, "Nobody knows what I know and what I have seen. Only I can tell my story. Anyone else who tries is a charlatan and a fool. Looking for instant gratification without doing the work. This is a disease in our society."
The rumoured biopic is titled Blond Ambition, the name of her landmark provocative 1990 tour. An LA-based debutant writer Elyse Hollander is apparently drafting the screenplay for the biopic, which will narrate the early days of the pop sensation. The film will be set in the 80s (when she moved from Michigan to New York) and will focus on Madonna's love life and music career.
Madonna's early works were a total reflection of her life and childhood. Though a number of books have been written on her life, she has totally distanced herself from a biopic so far. Further fuelling the rumour, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Universal Studios will be bankrolling Blond Ambition along with co-produced by Michael De Luca of Fifty Shades of Grey and The Social Network fame.
"The story is set in early 1980s New York as Madonna Louise Ciccone works on her first album, struggling in a business that treats women badly, while also dealing with a burgeoning love life and the first hints of fame," the report added.
It further added, "Universal executive VP production Erik Baiers and director of development Chloe Yellin will oversee production for the studio. Lucy Kitada will help oversee for De Luca Productions."
Looks like the production house is truly serious about the biopic. Do you think it is right to make a biopic without proper authorisation? Comment your feedback!
