A Malaysian court has sentenced a man to death after he was found guilty of murdering his wife after subjecting her to physical torture. The accused Jamaluddin Ali was arrested for causing the violent death of his wife Nurhidayah A. Ghani in 2013 and was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code. "The court cannot even begin to imagine the pain and agony that the deceased had to suffer before her death," said High Court judge Amelia Tee Hong Geok Abdullah, according to Malay Mail.
"In this case, the accused's version is not even a remote possibility. In light of the court's findings as above, the court finds the accused has not succeeded in raising a reasonable doubt in the truth of the prosecution," she added while announcing the guilty verdict.
During the investigation, it was found out that the victim and her family had filed over 10 police reports against her husband between 2009 and 2013 for abuse. Moreover, Women's Aid Organisation, said that Nurhidayah was getting physically and psychologically tortured by Jamaluddin since 2003. The victim also had her head dashed into a wall, beaten with a helmet and a fishing rod previously, reported the organisation, according to Malay Mail.
Nurhidayah died in May 2013 after receiving fatal blows from her husband. She was rushed to the hospital where the doctor revealed that she received "repeated blows" to her head, face, body, upper and lower limbs which resulted in massive bleeding.
