JTBC's new drama 'Man to Man' surpassed first episode ratings of 'Strong Woman Do Bong Soon' which itself had created a record for JTBC. Now, lead actor Park Hae-jin has made an extremely generous promise to viewers, which he'll keep if they help the drama achieve 10 percent and above ratings.
Website Soompi notes that while speaking with his fans through V Live, actor Park Hae-jin brought notice to the fact that Korea's air quality is suffering and intends to plant a lot of trees. "Park Sung-woong announced during the drama's press conference that he would go volunteering with me if 'Man to Man' surpasses 10 percent in viewer ratings. In addition to volunteering, I will donate 10,000 trees to Korea. I donated trees to China not too long ago, but I've been noticing that there's way too much fine dust in Korea," the actor promised.
Now, even though 'Man to Man' achieved 4.055 percent rating viewership in all of South Korea, as per AGB Nielsen it had surpassed its predecessor by 0.226 percent. However, achieving 10 percent ratings is still a difficult task. The final episode of 'Strong Woman Do Bong Soon' claimed an impressive 8.957 percent viewership in the Friday-Saturday slot and getting an additional 1.043 percent for the new drama might be a little difficult. However, seeing as the drama already climbed 0.019 percent in the second episode, Park Hae-jin might just be able to fulfil his promise.
The desire for planting more trees is indeed a noble one in this day and age when forests are depleting rapidly, threatening wild animals, birds and compromising our air quality. Trees are known to act as natural filters that purify the air from dust and toxins. Modern civilization has progressed for the sake of humanity's development, ignoring nature's needs and ours as well.
Park Hae-jin said, "I won't be able to plant all 10,000 trees, but I am definitely planning on donating them." For the sake of the people of Korea, hopefully 'Man to Man' will be able to achieve and surpass the 10 percent rating that will make Park Hae-jin keep his promise to the people of Korea.
Episode 3 of 'Man to Man' airs on April 28 on JTBC network. The drama is also broadcast internationally by Netflix.
