Manchester City have confirmed they have completed the deal in signing Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte on 30 January.
The 23-year-old brough his €65m release clause from Basque club on 29 January, which then allowed him join the Premier League leaders. Pep Guardiola's side spent around £57m in bringing the Frenchman to the Etihad for a club-record fee. Laporte signed a six-year deal with City and becomes the six addition of the 2017/18 season.
"City are delighted to announce the signing of French centre-back Aymeric Laporte. The 23-year-old joins the Club from Athletic Bilbao as Pep Guardiola's sixth signing of the 2017/18 season and has signed a deal until 2023," a statement read on City's official website.
"Regarded as one of the most promising young defenders in Europe, Laporte will take the number 14 shirt and is eager to help the Blues in their hunt for silverware."
Laporte has also expressed his delight after joining one of the best teams in Europe, while admitting that he is eager to work under the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager at City.
"I am very happy to be here. City are a Club with a lot of ambition and they are one of the best teams in Europe," Laporte said in his first interview after joining City.
"I am looking forward to working under Pep Guardiola and trying to help the Club to achieve success. It means a lot that the Club have shown faith in me and I am excited to get started."
