Manchester United and Southampton meet in the title match of 2016/17 EFL Cup at the Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

The Red Devils are appearing in their ninth League Cup final, having won the tournament four times earlier with their latest triumph coming in 2010. Jose Mourinho's men are heading into the big night with a six-match unbeaten run in all competitions, which includes wins in their last five outings.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will once again be key to their success as the striker has been in red-hot form, scoring 24 goals for United this season, including the two in League Cup. Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who injured his hamstring during hamstring during their 1-0 Europa League against Saint-Etienne on Wednesday, is likely to miss the game while Wayne Rooney, who was not part of that game, is set to feature on Sunday.

Notably, United have had a solid League Cup campaign brushing aside Manchester City, West Ham United and Northampton Town before beating Hull City in the two-legged semi-final. With Mourinho, who has won the tournament three times earlier with Chelsea, in the helm, United are expected to win but they cannot take the Saints lightly.

Claude Puel's side ended their three-match unbeaten streak with a 4-0 demolition of Sunderland on 11 February and are heading into the big final with almost two weeks' rest. Former Napoli striker Manolo Gabbiadini, with three goals from two games, has added firepower to the line-up since arriving at the club last month and he will be key to their chances.

Having defeated the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal enroute to the final, Southampton will be gearing up to make history at Wembley and avenge their early-season defeat to the Red Devils.
