American actress and fiance of Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, is going to retire from acting as she is all set to enter the royal family. The 36-year-old star announced her retirement from showbiz in a BBC video.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced on November 27 that they are going to tie the knot during spring 2018. Before that, the Suits actress completed her scenes for the show's seventh season that will be returning in 2018.
Before getting engaged, Meghan Markle landed her first TV stint in form of a cameo. Starting from General Hospital, she went on to act in some series that included Cuts, The War at Home, CSI: NY and 90210. Markle has also done a few movies like Get Him to the Greek, Horrible Bosses and Anti–Social.
She found it difficult to carve her identity as an actress in Hollywood and finally got a breakthrough in 2011 when she bagged the role of Rachel Zane in the famous series Suits. It also features Gabriel Macht, Patrick J. Adams, and Gina Torres. The American legal drama revolves around a fictional law firm and focuses on the college drop-out Mike Ross who works as an associate to Harvey.
Harry popped the question to Meghan Markle after dating for 16 months. That opened a new chapter in her life, for which she is preparing herself by relocating to London and trying to learn more about her would-be in-laws' traditions.
Although she will leave her acting career behind, a source close to the former actress told The Sun, "She will maintain her agent and PR to field calls and offers, but she is not seeking any acting work and not planning to."
Markle, who has previously worked as a UN Goodwill ambassador, sees this as a new platform to voice people's opinions.
