It is said that Tamil director Atlee and actor Vijay, also known as "Illayapathy" by his fans across the world, are going to team up for yet another movie after the release of "Mersal". However, it depends on the actor's official confirmation to be a part of the project.
Vijay is currently preparing to work in a movie to be directed by A.R Murugadoss and has not yet discussed anything with the director. Director Atlee had long been associated with the Kollywood trendsetter-director and producer Shankar before making his debut with his first multi-starrer romance drama "Raja Rani" that went on to become a huge success in the Tamil film industry.
Atlee and Vijay first rubbed shoulders on the sets of "Nanaban", which is the remake of Aamir Khan's hit movie "3 idiots", where the former made a guest appearance in the movie playing the role of the assistant director in one of the songs. The duo first teamed up in "Theri" that garnered appraisals from the audience and went on to become the second highest South Indian film in box office collections in 2016.
"After the success of "Theri", I narrated the script of 'Mersal' to Vijay sir last November and he was excited about the idea. And, we went on floors immediately from February 2017," the 31-year-old director recollected.
Atlee hinted that the audience would love the actor in Mersal for his actions and romance which will be different from his other movies. For "Mersal" the director has roped in Bahubali and Bajarangi Bhaijaan writer Vijeyandra Prasad for the first time. He showered praises for Vijay's dedication in one of the scenes in the movie where he had to shoot shirtless for wrestling at a temperature of 58-degree celsius in Rajasthan, India.
With hit numbers like Alaporan Tamzihan which has become a sensational hit among the actor's fans, the movie is set to be released on October 19 where Vijay will be playing triple roles in the movie along with female leads like Kajal Aggarwal, Nithya Menon and others. Will Atlee and Vijay's magical combo charm the audience once again? Only time can tell.
