Reports on August 25 revealed that 'Running Man' members Kim Jong-kook and HaHa would be Masters of Ceremonies (MCs) of a new variety show. Now, the name of the show and the airing date has been revealed.
As noted by website Soompi, Mystic Entertainment, the agency of the new show's Producing Director (PD) revealed, "PD Yuh Woon Hyuk and Naver will reveal the web variety show 'Big Picture.' The first episode will air on September 4 with Kim Jong Kook and HaHa as the cast."
As noted by Soompi, 'Big Picture' will feature Kim Jong-kook and HaHa cooking up extraordinary ideas, the implementation of which lead to unexpected and no doubt hilarious results that force them to recover the production costs. Jong-kook and HaHa have reportedly been involved with the new show, right from the planning stages. They will also co-produce 'Big Picture.'
As we noted earlier, 'Running Man' members had been part of other television shows before. Yoo Jae-suk and HaHa co-hosted MBC's 'Infinite Challenge.' Also, PD Yuh Woon-hyuk, as Soompi notes, is known as the "godfather of variety shows," having produced programmes like MBC's 'Infinite Challenge' 'Golden Fishery- The Knee-Drop Guru,' JTBC's 'War of Words' and 'Ask Us Anything.'
Kim Jong-kook is currently co-hosting the South Korean music show 'I Can See Your Voice,' by Mnet; with Super Junior's Leeteuk and Yoo Se-yoon. It is a talent hunt show. Kim Jong-kook is said to be close with the other two hosts and the three have a good rapport with each other. The show is produced by Lee Seon-young under Signal Entertainment Group and airs on Mnet. Each episode sees celebrity guests invited in to see whether the contestants are trained and skilled vocalists. Those that cannot sing are then eliminated.
As for HaHa, apart from being the co-hosts of 'Infinite Challenge' and 'Running Man,' he was also a co-host of the pilot of 'Secret Variety Training Institute' and 'High School Rapper' among others.
Now 'Big Picture,' following its September 4 airing, will be broadcast on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 6 pm KST, on Naver TV and V Live. The premise of the show seems promising and will no doubt be filled with hilarious incidents, thanks to the comedic timing of HaHa and Kim Jong-kook.
