Motorola Nexus 6 owners are in for some good news as Google has finally rolled out the full-system image and OTA files for the highly-anticipated Android 7.1.1 update on the ageing handset. The former flagship Nexus phone now joins the elite list of devices that are running Android 7.1.1 Nougat alongside the Google Pixel phones, the older Nexus 5X and 6P, and the Pixel C tablet.
Although Google has officially started rolling out Android 7.1.1 Nougat update for the Nexus 6, it may take some time before it becomes available on your handset via over-the-air (OTA) update. Nevertheless, those who cannot wait for the official OTA rollout of Android 7.1.1 may go ahead and download the full-system image and OTA files manually, using the links from Google's Android developer portal.
It is a welcome change for power-hungry Nexus 6 users who would love to exploit the full potential of the newer Google-branded hardware including the Snapdragon 805 processor and 3GB of RAM, which are better optimised for performance on the latest Nougat firmware.
