Quashing all the speculations that had surfaced in recent times that Nintendo Switch would sport a $250 tag, the firm finally said that the Nintendo Switch will cost $299.99 or 29,980 yen, which makes it quite a hard sell in times where people are slowly moving towards smart phones from consoles when it comes to mobile gaming.
Nintendo Switch does stand tall with its flexibility due to the fact that it can be used both as a home console and handheld device. This ensures that a gamer would never need to hit the pause button from unlimited gaming. But that seems to appear wafer thin considering the fact that the firm doesn't have a varied list of games to pick from which would justify such a hefty price. It is also expected that Nintendo Switch will be able to provide a richer gaming experience owing to the fact it is powered by processor chips based on developer-friendly architecture by ARM.
Nintendo's Wii U console, which took a major hit owing to poor sales, should have served as a warning bell to the firm to wisely price their products so that it could gain back the market popularity but it apparently chose to take the risky bet and gamers around the world are not going to be too happy about it.
However, as a saving grace, the firm said that it is in the process of developing around 80 game titles which it will made available for Nintendo Switch users. Then again only eight are going to be available during the time of its launch in Japan, including the much awaited "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" on March 3.
Nintendo has in recent times ventured into the realm of mobile gaming by introducing its all time best selling Super Mario Bros franchise to Apple iPhones but then again it's not available on android platforms which have a bigger gaming fraternity.
