Almost seven years after it was formed, K-pop's all-girl four-member band 2NE1 was disbanded recently. Earlier in April 2016, the band's star member Minzy left the group and the 2NE1 contract expired in May. YG Entertainment didn't renew the contract and disbanded the group with Dara and CL signing new contracts as soloists.
And as a farewell gift for fans, the girls even released their final single 'Goodbye,' which featured CL, Park Bom, and Sandara Park, but without Minzy. Meanwhile, Minzy's much awaited solo debut was released recently. The former 2Ne1 member released her first mini album, "MINZY WORK 01 UNO," with the title music video for "NINANO," alongside rapper Flowsik. The music video was a jazzy pop number laced with elements like hip hop, jazz, and melody.
The sole one left was Park Bom. The 33-year old singer has been maintaining low profile ever since entangling in a drug scam. However, Bom dropped a bomb on her Twitter page on Thursday by flaunting her sexy summer look. She uploaded a hot image on her Twitter page accompanied by a statement, "I 'm going back~."
Soon after, netizens erupted in joy with many guessing her comeback. When one of her fan asked, "Please go back to the studio and release a solo album," she replied that they have to contact YG and Teddy oppa for that. Is Bom hinting at a comeback with YG? Ever since the dismantlement of the group, there has been no news about Bom's contract status.
2NE1's last album was released almost two years ago -- Crush, in 2014 and it last performed together as a three-member band at the 2015 Mnet Asia Music Awards (MAMA). The girl-band has broken the record for the highest-charting K-pop album on the Billboard 200 with Crush. The band shot to fame with their 2009 debut single 'Fire' but became a household name worldwide after releasing their boastful girl power anthem 'I'm the Best'.
