Park Yoochun's upcoming movie Lucid Dream has been pushed back to a later date. The fantasy thriller film is reportedly being delayed after the singer's sexual assault scandal hit the K-pop industry in June.
Apparently, the movie is up for release in January 2017. The representatives of Lucid Dream recently told Soompi that the feature film was planned for a fall release, however, it will hit the big screen in January instead.
The production team relayed: "After Park Yoochun's sexual assault controversy in June, the production company and NEW had many discussions about the release date. We were preparing for a fall release, but we were thrown off track by the scandal."
The movie was reportedly shot in April, and has been in pre-production phase from last couple of months. As per reports, the PD previously decided to halt before the deciding upon a final release date due to the fact that Yoochun is playing a pivotal character in the movie. The actor's presence in the film was a mandate, hence the production team delayed the decision.
Meanwhile, the makers of the movie, starring Go Soo, Kang Hye Jung, and the former TVXQ member, previously revealed that regardless of the singer's high profile case, the production work for the movie will keep running on its schedule.
The representative told Allkpop: "We have nothing to say regarding Park Yoochun. We're in a situation where we can't refer to anything until official reports from the police. Lucid Dream is currently working in the last stages of production, regardless of Yoochun's case."
"It is set to premiere sometime in the latter half of 2016, but no date has been confirmed," the insider added.
Lucid Dream is a mystery thriller movie, where the 30-year-old singer/actor plays the role of a mysterious figure which supports the protagonist, portrayed by Soo. The fantasy-thriller movie showcases the restless mind of a man who lost his son three years ago and confuses his dreams to reality.
