PM Lee enjoys visit to US, ties to strengthen

Looks like Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong had fun reliving the memories of his old days. Singaporeans who were overseas or working in America got a chance to meet the Prime Minister and went as far as to fly in from Boston and even North Carolina.

Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong took to Twitter to share his experience of visiting Washington D.C, where he stayed at the Blair House for the third time.

This was not his first visit. He had been there before, for other official visits, for medical treatment and prior to that for his Masters in Public Administration at Harvard.

He also visited the Union Market and the historic Peirce Mill over the weekend, which he thought aptly summed up the city as well as the capital.

In a joint press conference with PM Lee and US President Donald Trump, political and social relations between the US and Singapore were discussed.

"Our friendship has never been stronger as it has been right now", said US President Donald Trump, after welcoming PM Lee at a Press Conference in the White House.

The outcome of the meeting will initiate the signing of the contract between SIA and Boeing aircraft deal at Washington D.C.

Singapore Airlines is purchasing 39 Boeing aircrafts worth 13.8 billion USD, which will assist in modernising SIA's fleet and be an opportunity for American employment. Although they are signing a private contract, it is symbolic of the relationship between the two countries.

PM Lee had previously met President Trump at Hamburg G20, where they spoke about their bilateral relations.

Lee was in dialogue with the Economic Club, where he told the audience about Singapore and the relationship with the US, developments in Asia Pacific and the key role that America still plays in the region.
