Pokemon GO has been the most successful augmented-reality game for the mobile-gaming platform ever since its release. With the recent decline in the game's popularity, Nintendo and Niantic Labs have introduced the recently announced Buddy Pokemon and Pokemon GO Plus features with its new updates for Android and iOS.
On the downside, the rooted devices including jailbroken iOS devices are no longer supported with the new updates, Pokemon GO v0.37 for Android and v1.7.0 for iOS. In other words, those who are running rooted or jailbroken devices can no longer load the game up or log into the game account.
Here is the complete changelog as shared by the Pokemon GO developer team:
- Implemented Buddy Pokémon: Trainers will now be able to choose one of their Pokémon to be their buddy. A Trainer can earn Candy for their Buddy Pokémon by walking a certain distance.
- Made it easier to select smaller Pokémon on the screen.
- Fixed an issue where Eggs would sometimes hatch without displaying the animation.
- Improved performance reliability when a device switches networks to no longer cause the application to hang or stop updating.
- Pokémon GO Plus support
- Minor text fixes.
Pokemon GO players can now choose their favourite Pokemon as their Buddy and earn candies for walking with them across the world of augmented reality. In addition, the Pokemon GO Plus support brings a new wearable accessory to assist players in locating Pokemon and Pokestops in the nearby areas.
Folks at Android Police have confirmed that all Android and iOS handsets with mock GPS and Xposed hacks installed will not be able to load the game or log into it. However, those who are running the older 0.35 version of the game in Android can continue to run root apps and hacks.
Niantic has ensured fair gameplay in Pokemon GO by restricting players from using hacks and cheats as they are being blocked in latest game updates, Pokemon GO v0.37 for Android and v1.7.0 for iOS.
