Korean rapper PSY's "Gangnam Style" became a mega-hit but according to the singer, it affected him a lot. On May 13, on one of the recent episodes of "Ask Us Anything", the 39-year-old singer confessed what it was like when the song became a huge hit.
According to Soompi, the singer said, "The hardest time after my debut was during 'Gangnam Style' promotions. Even I didn't know the song would be such a hit. I just did it for fun and it became too big. Then the anticipation for my next release increased, and it scared me."
The star further explained, "It felt like it was my birthday and the day never seemed to end. Metaphorically speaking, I went up without preparing a parachute. I didn't know I would go up that high."
It became so big that it made the singer scared. Psy confessed,"I tried to ignore the fact that the audience is expecting a lot from me, and later I realized that the person expecting the most out of me is myself."
It was a really tough time for him. In fact, he kept pondering after 'Gangnam Style,' "'Why doesn't this song succeed like 'Gangnam Style'?' I think that period in my life was the hardest for me."
Moreover, the singer also confessed that he had no idea why that song became such a huge hit. According to him, it's such a mystery.
However, his comeback music videos are also gaining a lot of attention. Two of his music videos garnering more than 10 million views in less than a day. On May 10, he released his new album containing 10 songs and two music videos.
In just 19 hours, the music video for "I Luv It" got 5.43 million views, "New Face" garnered 5.09 million for total views of 10.52 million.
