The popular SBS drama "Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim" is continuously receiving strong TV ratings despite its impending end. The series recently crossed the mark of 30 percent viewership and it is better than another SBS medical series "Doctors."
In 2016, one of the SBS' most popular dramas was Park Shin Hye's drama "Doctors". Accordig to the reports, the series during its 20-episode run reached double-digit TV ratings, the highest was at 23.1 percent.
With "Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim" airing just a few months after Park's drama, SBS' currently airing medical series replicated and even bested the TV ratings reached by "Doctors." The former even recently crossed the 30 percent viewership mark.
According to Nielsen Korea, as cited by Yonhap News, the viewership share for "Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim" episode 19 reached 30.1 percent, aired on Jan. 10, Tuesday. Also, the mentioned episode got the TV ratings of 28.6 percent and 26.7 percent, in Seoul and across South Korea, respectively.
The latest episode of the KBS' star-studded historical drama "Hwarang" only got nationwide TV ratings of 7.6 percent. Whereas, MBC's "Night Light" received only 4 percent. It is also reported that episode 18 of " Teacher Kim" got the peak ratings of 30 percent which was aired on Jan. 9, Monday.
It was a tense scene, where the confrontation between Dong Joo (Yoo Yeon Seok) and mentor Teacher Kim (Han Suk Kyu) took place. According to Nielsen Korea, as cited by OSEN, across South Korea, more than around six million viewers tuned in to watch the episode 18 of the said show. The same report noted that the SBS medical series' viewer size is four times bigger as compared to its competitor dramas.
"Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim" will be airing its final episode on Jan. 16, Monday. It will also air a special episode on Jan. 17, Tuesday.
