A Chinese mother who was frustrated after giving birth to only daughters killed her four children in cold blood in their Zhanjiang village house.
It was reported that the incident happened in a village in China's Guangdong province where the mother attacked her five daughters with a kitchen knife. She managed to kill four of the children by stabbing them and wounded the fifth one.
All the children were aged less than 8 years with the youngest just a month old. The girls were rushed to a nearby hospital. However, they succumbed to their injuries.
According to Chinese media, the father was not present when the horrifying incident took place as he has been working away from home to support their struggling family. Villagers informed the police about the incident and the woman was immediately arrested, reported the South China Morning Post.
After the initial investigation, the police revealed that the birth of her youngest daughter, last month, left the 31-year-old woman, identified only by her surname Zhou, frustrated and depressed after she failed to give birth to a boy.
