Singapore: 52-year-old man found dead at Geylang Lorong 23

The police said that they received a call for assistance at around 8 am and the man was pronounced dead by paramedics at 8.11 am.

A body of a 52-year-old man was found near a coffee shop at Geylang Lorong 23 on Saturday morning.

The police said that they received a call for assistance at around 8 a.m. and that the man was pronounced dead by paramedics at 8.11 a.m.

The man had a deep cut running from the left side of his ear to the top of his head. He was lying in a pool of blood and a wooden stick was found beside him. A bloodied knife was also found at the crime scene.

The Shin Min Daily News reported that the victim was a helper at the zi char stall of the coffee shop where his body was found. But his colleague said that he stopped working at the coffee shop a few months ago, although he visited it every day to spend time.

Ah Hong, an employee at the drinks stall, told Shin Min that when she saw the deceased in the morning, his head was already bleeding. As he was about to leave, the suspect attacked him and then ran towards Geylang Lorong 21. Ah Hong recognised the suspect and said that he frequently visits the coffee shop.

The police said that they are investigating the unnatural death. The police also urged the public to call the police hotline at 1800-255 0000 or submit information online at www.police.gov.sg/iwitness, if anyone has any informtion about the case.

They also assured that all the information will be kept strictly confidential.
