A 27-year-old motorcyclist was crushed under a lorry on Wednesday morning on Tuas West Road, even as the city saw a spike in motor accidents following heavy rains.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said the motorist came under the wheels of the lorry following the collision. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and his body had to be removed with the help of rescue tools.
Police said a 33-year-old driver has been arrested for driving with negligence and causing the death.
The Land Transport Authority said there were accidents along the Pan Island Expressway, Bukit Timah Expressway, Kranji Expressway, Ayer Rajah Expressway and Seletar Expressway.
The identity and nationality f the victim was not revealed.
