Today is the Singapore National Day and a perfect opportunity to look at some of the best innovations and technologies that the country has contributed to the world.
Singapore, as we all know it, is quite a tech-savvy country. It might be one of the smallest countries in the world, but when it comes to technology and innovations, they have certainly managed to put their selves in the world map.
Here are five of the coolest technologies that have been innovated in Singapore:
Thumb Drive
Did you even know that one of the most essential pieces of technology has been invented on this little island? Singapore was the first nation in the world to commercially release the thumb drive. The 8MB "Thumb Drive" was manufactured in the country in partnership with IBM and rest, as they say, is history.
Razer
The company with a triple-headed snake logo and gaming go hand in hand. Although the company is based in the U.S, it was founded by a Singaporean. Min-Liang Tan and Robert Krakoff founded this iconic company back in 2005 and if you are a fan of video games, you must have used one or more of its iconic products that range from laptops to mice and keyboards.
X-Mini
X-Mini is the device that responsible for driving the portable speakers forward into the world. Unlike the other portable speakers of that time, X-Mini's sound quality was unmatched. The company that brought this mini power house to the world, Xmi, is a Singapore technological company that was founded in 2006 by brothers Ryan Lee and Reuben Lee together with Barry Choo.
Creative
Founded in 1981, Singapore's very own digital entertainment production company is well known to the entire world and they have been changing the game ever since the release of Sound Blaster sound cards. It was the first dedicated audio processing card in the world. Sound Blaster sound cards may not be relevant in this age, but Creative has never stopped inventing newer and smarter products, like Creative MUVO, the room-thumping Sound Blaster Roar line and much more.
Valore
From the common cables and power banks to gaming peripherals, drones and rotating display cases, Challenger's house brand Valore has got you covered. Although it doesn't have great quality or pretty looks, Valore is well known for its affordable price range. It may not be the best by Singapore, but it definitely worths a mention, but at this era of international products being the first choice, it's commendable how a homegrown brand has made such an impact in local tech.
