A 39-year old woman has been looking for a driver who collided with her on January 18 at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1, fracturing her ribs, and insulted her more by only saying "I thought I hit a dog". She hopes to solicit an apology and press for compensation from him.
The victim Deng Xiaoyan said that she was heading towards her home from Junction 8 Shopping Centre and was at the zebra crossing when the accident happened. She was tossed into the air and flung across the road when the car rammed into her. All this time she was conscious.
A middle-aged woman and a couple, who were passing by in a car, rushed to her assistance. By the time the ambulance arrived, the couple cleaned Xiaoyan's wounds with a bottle of disinfectant procured from their vehicle.
Meanwhile, the reckless driver, who according to Xiaoyan looks to be in his 50s, had stopped about 10 meters away. He reportedly put the entire blame on Xiaoyan and told the people who were helping the victim that he thought a dog has jumped in front of his car.
Xiaoyan immediately confronted him and said that even if it was a dog it also has a life. However, she, in panic, forgot to take down the vehicle's number. She said, according to Asia One, "Even after hitting someone, he can still talk like that. I hope to find him and get a formal apology, along with compensation for the medical fees."
