Snapchat's lens feature has finally been overhauled with support for augmented-reality or adding real-time effects into your snaps. The new AR lenses aka 3D World lenses are powered by the company's advanced face-detection technology, which can now be used on an iPhone's rear camera.
"While Snapping with the rear-facing camera, simply tap the camera screen to find new Lenses that can paint the world around you with new 3D experiences" says Snapchat.
Check out the new 3D World Lenses in action, in the demo video (below):
Here are some tips for novice users who would like to explore the new AR-based camera feature on Snapchat:
- Just open the Snapchat feature by tapping on the camera screen when the camera app is running.
- You can now tap on the new button at the top-right corner to switch between the selfie and rear camera.
- Tap on any surface and you will see a collection of Lenses appearing at the bottom of the camera screen.
- Just scroll up or down with the swipe gesture and then select the World Lens you want to use by tapping it.
Note:You can also drag or move the Lens around and pinch your fingers in or out for changing the lens size. You can also experiment with the Text Lenses for placing creative captions on your favourite snaps, but this feature is now limited to specific instances while using the camera.
Interested users may go ahead and download the latest version of Snapchat (v10.6.2) which supports the new 3D World Lenses feature. The app is available for free download via App Store.
