An increasing number of new MacBook Pro units with Touch Bar are allegedly facing major battery life issues, as the brand new hardware is not living up to the standard claimed by Apple. It is reported that several of these affected devices are able to deliver up to six hours of battery life on a single charge while a few others on MacRumors forums have been quoted as saying that their device is offering less than three hours of battery life under normal use.
Here are the excerpts of a few such comments posted on MacRumors forums:
"I bought a maxed out 13-inch Touch Bar model and I've been using it for about a week. With light use, I've been consistently getting around 5-6.5 hours when mainly browsing. Apple claims 10 hours wireless web but my battery has never lasted this long."
"Currently I'm powering a 1080p external monitor and casually browsing with Chrome. At full charge, I'm getting an estimate of 3 hours battery life. With gaming it's even less."
One such affected user 'Azr-79' on Reddit says that his 15in MacBook Pro with Touch Bar barely delivers three hours and 45 minutes of battery life when it's fully charged. His usage includes internet browsing, software development and video streaming/playback via YouTube.
Meanwhile, some affected users are also flooding Apple Support forums with similar complaints, wherein their new MacBook Pro's battery life is nowhere near 10 hours as advertised by Apple.
I just received my new 15″ MacBook Pro with touch bar. The battery life is horrible!!! I have Safari open with 6 tabs and with 95% battery, I am told that I have under 3 hours of battery life left! I thought these things were supposed to get 10 hours? I ran the battery down in 3 hours last night only browsing the web. I wasn't watching videos, just browsing. Is there something wrong with my laptop?
On the contrary, several reviews on the new MacBook Pro have given mixed reactions about the device's battery life. Although most of the tech sites estimated the average battery life of the device at 9-and-a-half-hours, folks at The Verge claimed to have got barely 5.5 hours of juice on their 13in model.
