As if the endless rumours about Song Hye-kyo's love life weren't enough, now her privacy has been violated as well. A private photo of the actress was leaked by MBC's "Section TV" and broadcast publicly. The show has apologised publicly, following criticism of its activity.
Website Soompi notes that on June 25, "Section TV," while airing their coverage on the rumours about Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo spending time together in Bali, revealed a photo from a private social media account of the actress. They did not ask permission for this and were also criticised for taking photos of the hotel where the 'descendants of the Sun' actress stayed in Bali.
"Section TV" denied they had taken photos in Bali saying, "We did not send any of our reporters to Bali. We contacted the locals to check facts and utilised the photos they sent us. We did not sneak into the place or secretly take photos."
As for sharing Song Hye-kyo's photos from her private SNS account without the actress's permission, their source said, "We apologise to anyone we made feel uncomfortable. From now on, we will make sure not to cross the line when covering news."
As noted by website Allkpop, it was TV Report who found out the photos were taken illegally. Representatives from the villa revealed that those who took the photos had posed as an inspection crew for travel agencies. "They introduced us as Korean travel agents. That's why we showed them the pool villa," a source for the villa stated.
They added, "If they are broadcasters, they needed to get permission. They hid their occupation and intent and filmed without permission. The interviews with the staff were also done secretly. No one knew they were being recorded." Representatives from the MBC show revealed that photos were not taken with broadcast equipment but with cell phones.
It was also revealed by a source close to Song Hye-kyo, that "Section TV" hadn't personally apologised to the actress for violating her privacy. The actress hasn't commented on the issue yet.
"Section TV" was supposed to air more about the SongSong couple on their next episode. However, a representative of the show said, "We are currently discussing what to do about the second half of the report. We will make another statement after more discussions."
