'Descendants of the Sun' star Song Joong-ki, who'll tie the knot with Song Hye-kyo on October 31, says he now understands what marriage really means.
As noted by website Soompi, Song Joong-ki, during an interview with SBS's 'Night of Real Entertainment,' talked about his forthcoming wedding. He said due to the overwhelming interest in his marriage with Song Hye-kyo from their fans, he wanted to talk openly about the subject.
"I think that of course, many people would be curious about [my relationship]. That's why I want to openly talk about my marriage to my girlfriend, but at the same time, there are small memories that we would like to treasure to ourselves. So, I ask for your understanding," Song Joong-ki said, addressing his fans.
He added, "Right now, I'm preparing for the release of the movie ['The Battleship Island'] and also for our wedding during my spare time. I'm happily preparing well." As of now, the movie has already been released in cinemas of South Korea, with Indonesia, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan to follow.
Song Joong-ki then proceeded to talk about how he didn't fully realise the meaning of a marriage before but he has some clarity now. "Adults used to tell me that marriage is a major life event, and in the past I didn't completely understand what they meant but these days, I realise what that means," the ex-Running Man member said, adding the happy couple continues to receive encouragement from people all the time.
Song Joong-ki also thanked his fans for their love and support adding Song Hye-kyo has given her blessings for his movie. Interestingly, the actress was also credited in the film with a message that read, "Special thanks to... Song Hye Kyo." She had offered her support for the movie crew by sending in a coffee cart as a gift.
Actress Lee Jung-hyun, who also stars in 'The Battleship Island,' recently revealed that she knew about the SongSong couple's marriage plans and even offered to sing at their wedding. Song Joong-ki had to decline as he had already offered that job to ex-Fin.K.L. lead singer Ock Joo-hyun. However, Song Joong-ki did invite her to congratulate the couple at their home after their marriage.
