Taylor Swift's new single "Look what you made me do" is out and fans have not shied away from criticising the song. Some people have blatantly rejected the lyrics and said that it might give a tough competition to rapper Kanye West's recent debacle.
The Grammy award winner wrote the song along with Jack Antonoff, Fred Fairbrass, Richard Fairbrass and Rob Manzoli following the same musical pattern of the 1991 house single "I'm too sexy" by 'Right said Fred.'
Some fans are also saying that her lyrics have hinted at Kanye West and wife Kim Kardashian, who are one of Swift's biggest rivals over West's song " Famous" where he trashed the singer " I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex, I made that b—h famous," Kanye rapped on the song. Swift's fan did not take this likely and the singer, who was usually adored, faced havy criticism on social media.
Music Columnist Frank Guan wrote in Vulture: "For all the serpent-themed hype leading up to the launch of the song, Swift's words lack venom, fangs, and smoothness. They have the consistency of wet flour, and their meaning could be converted into a series of impotent hisses without any loss in translation."
He further implies that her arch nemesis Kim and Kanye are probably laughing at her new song as they have made Taylor release the worst music of her career so far.
Meanwhile, Swift hasn't left any stone unturned to make the audience accept the single. She has swept all her media accounts clean to get rid of her good girl image prior to the release. Not only this, the former country star, posted a video triptych of a C.G.I snake setting the mood for her new album "Reputation", which is scheduled to release this November.
Coming back to the song, it is very clear that Swift, the sweet girl, has left and a new side of her has emerged: "I'm sorry, the old Taylor can't come to the phone right now. 'cause she's dead!" she sings.
This song was released just a few days after Swift won a sexual-assault case involving a radio host, who apparently groped her in a meet-and-greet photo session.
However, her loyal fans have sent the song to number one on the i-tunes charts just hours after it was released. They even raved about the new strong side the singer, who always had a sweet image.
