Cable station tvN announced that they have decided to make some changes in the drama line up and is scheduling the drama programs six days a week instead of four days a week. It currently airs one Monday-Tuesday series and other one Friday-Saturday series.
Recently, tvN also experimented with a second Friday-Saturday slot with Entourage, in the late-night hour, but it doesn't look like it on the new schedule.
The cable channel is planning to add a Wednesday-Thursday drama slot to the schedule and will be shifting the Friday-Saturday shows to Saturday-Sunday slot.
According to Dramabeans, One station rep mentioned that tvN made this decision because of its recent ratings slump. Well, that's obvious as the channel produced lower-than-expected ratings for the dramas of this year like Tomorrow With You, Introverted Boss, and Chicago Typewriter.
The decision to change the Friday-Saturday slot to conventional Saturday-Sunday is a bit odd as the other stations prefer the former and many are shifting to the same. From Friday-Saturday 8pm slot, the drama slot will be moved to 9 pm Saturday-Sunday. This goes up against the shows of SBS and MBC. Also, KBS airs its family dramas on the weekend an hour earlier; therefore that competition would be less.
Forest of Secrets will be the first drama scheduled to be aired in the said schedule. The Jo Seung-woo and Bae Doo-na starrer thriller will premiere on June 10 as a Saturday-Sunday drama. On the other hand, the Wednesday-Thursday drama slot will start in July.
