A bizarre conspiracy theory claims that the moon is not Earth's natural satellite but an artificial one. The theory even claims that the moon is a hollow sphere created by aliens billions of years ago and may even be occupied inside.
Scott C Waring, the editor of UFO Sightings Daily, said that he has found evidence on the moon's surface that validate the hypothesis that the celestial body is actually hollow inside. In a blog called "Shadow Structures Proof Of Hollow Moon Theory", he said that while exploring the Google Moon system he came across large structures hidden in the shadows of the dark side of the moon and polar regions. "Look at the high perfect detail of the surrounding area and you will know that this is not pixilation, but 100 percent authentic structures found hidden within the shadows. All I did was added a smidgen of light to the photos, the rest is all moon," said Waring, according to Daily Express.
"The structures are proof that the moon is actually a hollow space station created by ancient aliens long before Earth was even created," he added.
The size and composition of the moon have always been one of the mysteries of space that has not been solved yet. However, these theories of aliens living inside the moon are considered farfetched by scientists. Scientists are baffled by the size of the moon and cannot explain how a planet like Earth can have such a big satellite.
Experts also question the low density of the moon. "If the astronomical data are reduced, it is found that the data require that the interior of the Moon be less dense than the outer parts. Indeed, it would seem that the Moon is more like a hollow than a homogeneous sphere," said NASA scientist Dr Gordon MacDonald in 1962.

In response to this comment, Waring wrote: "So, as you see, the theory of a hollow Moon is more realistic than that of a solid authentic Moon," as reported by the news website. It is more shocking to know that the "alien creating the moon" theory is not a recent one made by jobless pseudo-scientists and conspiracy theorists, rather it has a long history.
Two Russian scientists, Mikhail Vasin and Alexander Shcherbakov, published an article in the Soviet journal Sputnik in July 1970, titled: "Is the Moon the Creation of Alien Intelligence?" They believed that the moon was actually a planetoid that was hollowed out thousands and thousands of years ago by intelligent beings.

Not only scientists, former Grandstand presenter David Icke is also a believer of the "hollow moon" theory. He said that the hollow structure actually was a space ship abandoned by aliens. "They have no bloody clue where they moon came from and it shouldn't by physics be there...The Earth not only has a satellite, but it is a giant satellite," said Icke, as reported.
"Some scientists don't talk about a planet-Moon relationship, but a planet-planet relationship - the Moon is bigger than Pluto...And then we get the hollow Moon, this is what I'm saying and others have said it's a hollowed out planetoid," he added.
