The Undertaker seems to have finally called it quits from WWE after he suffered a defeat to Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania 33 on Sunday night (Monday morning, Singapore time) at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando.
The Dead Man sat up once again after a marathon match against Roman and took of his gloves, hat and robe and placed it on the ring, which was seen by many as the 52-year-old breaking his character, and started walking away from it to the crowd's chants of "Thank You, Taker".
As he walked away from the arena, he also acknowledged his wife, Michelle McCool, who was present at the stadium to witness the action, with a kiss before fading away into the darkness after the lights went out.
Notably, the match between the Undertaker and Roman was projected as the Phenom's last match and the greatest ever WWE performer has signed off with an uncharacteristic loss and a 23-2 record at Wrestlemania, with his only other defeat at the grandest stage coming at Wrestlemania 33 against Brock Lesnar. Despite taking the initial advantage in the match, the 52-year-old was at the receiving end of spears and Super Punches, after which he was pinned down by Roman.
Since signing for up for the pro-wrestling brand in 1990, the Undertaker has moulded his personality to become one of the greatest wrestlers. In his 27-year journey, he kept attracting fans from all generations by coming up with fine performances inside the ring and also coming up with various alterations to his appearance and character. However, quite a few of his fans were unhappy with the way he ended it all on Sunday - a loss even without a proper build-up for the Wrestlemania main event.
IBTimes Singapore has compiled some of the best reactions to the Undertaker's final act.
