The Press Secretary of the White House, Kayleigh McEnany mentioned that President Donald Trump is going to hold a press conference on Sunday night to announce a 'major therapeutic breakthrough' for the deadly coronavirus or COVID-19.
The press secretary tweeted on late Saturday night that the US Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar and the Food and Drug Administration head Stephen Hahn are going to be attending the 6 pm press conference about the major breakthrough.

She, however, did not give any hint at what the supposed breakthrough might be. On the other hand, she used one of Trump's two nicknames for the coronavirus. The US President has spent the last few months pushing the use of anti-malarial drugs hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine for the treatment of the deadly virus as many experts and even IDSA have recently stated against the usage of hydroxychloroquine.
Trump had earlier mentioned this month a vaccine was possible before November 3. The US President will be banking very much on the vaccine to help him in the upcoming Presidential Elections as his way of tackling the outbreak has received criticism from all over the country giving his opponents a slight edge in the race.
The US has been the worst affected nation due to the coronavirus outbreak as more than 5.6 million people have been infected and over 176,000 people have lost their lives. The global case tally has crossed 23.2 million and the death toll has gone past 800,000.
On August 11, Russia registered a coronavirus vaccine named Sputnik V that it claims to be the first one for treating the deadly disease amid doubts about its safety. Russian President Vladimir Putin had mentioned that the vaccine is safe and efficient for users. However, many experts worldwide have criticized this step taken by Russia as they claimed that the European country did this to be recognized as the first vaccine developer of this disease.
