Korean boy band EXO will end 2017 with the bestselling album since their debut in 2012.
Their album "The War" and its repackaged version "The War: The Power of Music" have sold a combined total of 1.59 million copies.
Data from the Gaon Chart showed that "The War" had 1.08 million copies sold while "The War: The Power of Music" garnered 506,485 copies in sales.
The boy band set a record in 2013 when their first studio album "XOXO" sold one million copies. The following albums "EXODUS" and "Ex'Act" also sold a million copies each. Last year, BTS sold a combined total of 2.13 million albums.
Recently, Twitter announced the top trending music for 2017 and EXO's "Ko Ko Bop," the lead single of "The War" album, emerged as the No. 1 most mentioned song on the site for the year.
EXO placed second on Tumblr's most popular K-pop bands in 2017 while members also made it to the individual rankings.
At the Melon Music Awards earlier this month, EXO took home the Artist of the Year, Best Male Dance Award, Top 10 Artist and Netizens' Choice. EXO member and Dynamic Duo won the Best Rap/Hip Hop award.
EXO won the Album of the Year at the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA), their fifth straight year to get the award.
"We have been able to receive such a big award at MAMA for the fifth time in a row this year. I want to sincerely thank MAMA. We always cannot believe it whenever we set new records like '5th consecutive year' or '[quadruple] million-seller,' but I believe it's because we have our EXO-Ls that we are able to see such results," said Suho.
"First of all, thank you. EXO was able to write a new piece of history again by receiving this award. Thanks to EXO-Ls, we have not yet [finished writing] EXO's history, and are still continuing on. Thank you very much to our EXO-Ls who built us and helped us rise up to this point. I love you!" said Xiumin.
