Prince William was rumoured to be upset with Prince Harry for releasing a statement regarding his relationship with Meghan Markle. Kensington Palace had recently confirmed that the royal is dating the Suits actress.
Princess Diana's second son and Markle reportedly met when the royal was in Toronto, where the American TV legal drama is filmed, to promote the 2017 Invictus Games in May. Adding on, the dating rumours thickened when the 35-year-old American beauty was pictured wearing a bracelet almost identical to Prince Harry.
A source told Daily Mail: "He thinks Harry made a mistake in confirming the relationship and releasing such an emotional statement so soon."
"He feels that the statement offered up too much information and only served to fuel speculation about how serious Harry is about Meghan. It could also put him in a difficult position in the future regardless of whether the relationship leads to something or not," the insider added.
"William knows that his brother can be hot-headed and understands that it is something he felt very strongly about. Privately, he shares a lot of the sentiments he and Meghan expressed as, make no mistake, she was very involved in the statement too. But he believes it was wrong to make his feelings so public," the source continued.
However, a Kensington Palace official denied the reports, and told The Telegraph: "The Duke of Cambridge absolutely understands the situation concerning privacy and supports the need for Prince Harry to support those closest to him."
"They don't issue statements like that without talking to each other, and they talked about the Meghan Marklestatement extensively in advance of it being put out. The Duke was as alarmed as anyone about what was happening with Meghan. No one wanted to have to put that statement out, including Prince Harry, and there was concern about confirming the relationship. But over the course of one weekend things escalated to the extent that Prince Harry felt he had to act," the insider revealed.
