Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane said it was crucial for his side to get three points before the Atletico-Barcelona match in order to exert more pressure on their rivals.
It was by no means an easy victory for Real Madrid on Saturday afternoon, yet Zinedine Zidane was delighted with the three points and then enjoyed the clash at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano as a "fan of football." He would also have watched as a manager hoping to close the gap, which they did, as Barcelona and Atletico Madrid could only manage a 1-1 draw, meaning Real are second in the table and trail Barcelona by 5 points, according to the Guardian.

Cristiano Ronaldo's domestic goal drought hadn't overly concerned many around the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, however it certainly frustrated the former Manchester United forward, so it was a fine return to form when he scored the crucial winner five minutes from time.
"It was important for us to get our three points before the Atletico-Barcelona match," explained Zidane at his post-match press conference.
"I will watch that game as a fan of football and we will have to wait and see if we have cut the gap to our rivals."
There were concerns prior to kick-off at the Estadio Coliseum Alfonso Perez that Los Blancos would struggle to find their rhythm after the international break. Players returning to training at different junctures is never helpful, although the former Castilla coach admitted he knew his team would be a threat going forward, as reported by Marca.
"We know we can score at any time," he confirmed.
"It is true that we lost momentum at the beginning of the second half, yet with patience we got back into the game. Isco played very well and provided the decisive pass for Cristiano."
Following a fine run of performances with the Spanish national team, Isco didn't miss a beat upon his return to LaLiga action, his creativity crucial against Getafe.
"We need Isco, as well as the other players," Zidane intimated. "When he has the chance to play, he does well, the most important thing is the team, even if the individuals make the difference."
It was a well known fact the former Juventus midfielder prefers a policy of consistent rotation and he attempted to follow that pattern with both Achraf Hakimi and Marcos Llorente getting further minutes under their respective belts.
"Achraf has a lot of offensive qualities," he stated. "He's also working hard in training on his physicality.
"Marcos is a very serious footballer, he's doing things sensibly and has given the team balance."
