Police raid in Surrey following Parsons Green bomb arrest

Police raided a house in Surrey following the discovery of a bomb on an underground train. Residents of surrounding buildings were evacuated. 29 people were injured when the home-made device partially exploded on Sept. 15. A 18-year-old suspect was arrested in Dover a day later. Following the explosion, the U.K. terror threat level was raised to critical.

UK Home Secretary Amber Rudd has announced that the 18-year-old man arrested at the port of Dover on September 16 was a sign of good progress of the police investigation. An improvised explosive device failed to explode on September 15 at Parsons Green Tube station in London but injured several people when it caught fire.

Clashes between police and protesters erupted after the trial of Jason Stockley. Stockley was found not guilty of murdering Anthony Lamar Smith on Dec. 20 2011. The white former policeman shot the black suspect after a car chase. Around 600 protesters gathered after the verdict demanding justice for Smith. A small group began throwing bricks and breaking windows. Eight officers were injured according to police.

Parsons Green Tube Station reopens one day after terror attack

Parsons Green Tube station has reopened one day after a terror attack. A home-made bomb engulfed a tube carriage in flames but failed to detonate. 29 people were injured in the blast or the panicked stampede that followed. An 18-year-old was arrested at Dover port in connection with the attack early on Sept. 16. The terror threat level remains critical. It is the fifth major terror attack in the UK in 2017.
