At least four people were killed on Saturday (October 14) when a propeller-engine cargo plane crashed into the sea near Ivory Coasts main city Abidjan, according to Reuters news agency. Amateur footage shows firefighters and rescue divers removing two bodies from the plane, which had broken into several pieces and come to rest near the beach. Two other bodies were visible in the wreckage. The crash occurred during a storm with heavy rain and lightning and rescuers were hampered by rough seas.

An Etihad Airways flight en route to Sydney from Abu Dhabi was diverted to Adelaide following a warning indication in the cockpit early on Saturday (14 October).The plane made an emergency landing in Adelaide at 5am local time on Saturday (7pm BST Friday), and the 349 passengers and crew on board the flight were made to leave via the planes emergency exits. The plane was scheduled to land in Sydney at 6.30am.
