Uncovered tower of skulls reveals dark Aztec history

A tower made of human skulls has been unearthed in Mexico City. More than 650 skulls caked in lime were found near Templo Mayor one of the main temples in the former Aztec capital. Anthropologists believe the tower was part of a massive structure made of skulls that terrified the Spanish invaders according to contemporary accounts. Many of the skulls belonged to women and children who may have been part of religious rituals.

The WHO warned of the unprecedented spread of the disease in the war-torn country. 1,500 deaths have been reported so far between April and June 2017 and every day an additional 5,000 new cases are reported. Almost half of all recorded cholera cases are children. Nearly 2 million children suffer from malnutrition, making them vulnerable for diseases.

Thousands of people, wearing red shirts, gathered at an intersection in downtown Winnipeg, Canada, to form the largest living maple leaf to celebrate the countrys 150th anniversary. Downtown Winnipeg Biz, which organised the event, said at least 3,600 people were involved in the stunt that took place on Saturday (1 July) morning local time. A few people, wearing white, formed 150 under the maple leafs stem.This is reported to be the seventh year that Canadians have gathered in the shape of the countrys iconic symbol.
