An inquiry into historic child abuse on the island of Jersey found a catalogue of failures in its care system spanning several decades, according to findings published in a report on Monday (July 3).The inquiry, led by Frances Oldham QC, heard 553 offences took place between 1947 and 2004. A Brazilian drug lord has been arrested after three decades on the run. Luiz Carlos da Rocha was one of South Americas biggest cocaine kingpins. He is said to have amassed a personal fortune of $100m (£77m). 150 police agents carried out 24 raids and seized $10m worth of the drug lords assets, including planes, properties and luxury cars. Rocha had managed to avoid capture using plastic surgery to change his appearance.
Multiple people have been shot at a night club in Little Rock, Arkansas, on 1 July. The incident is reported to have taken place in the early hours of Saturday morning at the Power Ultra Lounge.Police have said that there are 17 victims, who include those shot as well as people trampled as patrons fled the club.

Detectives in Hackney have released CCTV footage of a man wanted for committing a violent robbery on an elderly woman in broad daylight on June 27. Pell has denied the accusations made against him. He has faced a number of allegations that he mishandled cases of sexual abuse by clergy while he was Archbishop of Melbourne and then Sydney.
